Hirondelle is a discreet and very private, single-storey villa set on a rocky promontory in the quiet residential area of Lance Aux Epines, right at the southern-most tip of the beautiful island of Grenada.

Ocean Side

The coastal side of the villa is centred around the pool, but also has access to some grassy areas near the rocky coastline. The view here is amazing and ever-changing. Sunrises are spectacular; you can watch turtles coming up for air when grazing on the seaweed beneath the ocean surface; as well as ospreys, frigate birds, wading birds, swallows (which give the villa its name – Hirondelle is French for swallow); and a range of geckos and iguanas, who seem to like to sunbathe on our pool-side rocks.

THE VILLA

Private Garden

The walled garden on the other side of the villa is a secluded and calm haven. The garden was designed for the previous owner by John Criswick, an award-winning English garden expert who has lived in Grenada for many years and is passionate about the island. His remote “St. Rose” plant nursery high up in the hills behind St. George’s is well worth a visit, one that will inspire your inner gardener and test your navigation and driving skills! Our garden is sheltered from the wind, and it is equipped with retractable sunshades that also keep the rain off on the days when those Caribbean showers pass through.

Sitting there with the villa doors open behind you, music gently playing and a nice glass of wine in-hand while you watch the changing light and nature around you is very special. You might even spot a hummingbird or two, or fireflies at dusk.

A modern, unique design

Internally, the villa is fully refurbished, re-finished and is well-equipped, with a modern kitchen, airy living space and generous bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms. We have doors open as much of the time as we can (weather permitting), so it’s very much an outdoors / indoors experience.

One of the most unique aspects of the villa is its round tower, which is accessed via a twisting staircase from the garden. From here you get a 360 degree view, from morning sunrise to evening sun setting over the lighthouse on the next peninsula, giving a lovely vista in all directions. Great spot for a sundowner cocktail and stargazing in the beautiful clear skies over the island.
